Exercise to Combat Cellulite
April 21, 2009
Cellulite is fat that is stored under the skin. The areas of the body that have cellulite often have a dimpled look.
Cellulite is more common amongst women than men because men tend to have thicker skin. Cellulite tends to appear on the hips, buttocks and thighs. Women are usually the first in line for cosmetic cellulite removal. There are many treatments that can remove cellulite such as creams, body wraps, pneumatic massages, liposuction, or chemical injections. One of the best ways, and also least expensive ways, to lose cellulite is through exercise.
By exercising you can remove cellulite on your body by losing the fat and toning the muscle. Since most cellulite is found on the buttocks and thighs, perform toning exercises that target these areas. Some of the best exercises to reduce the look of cellulite on the thighs and buttocks are leg curls and squats. Add some weights for resistance. Aerobic exercise is another way to lose the cellulite on your body. Aerobics increases the amount of blood that flows throughout the body and allows it to circulate through the body more efficiently. As the blood circulates more freely, the cellulite is removed and replaced with muscles. Exercise not only removes cellulite, but it makes the body more fit.
Doing exercise daily is not always the most effective way to lose cellulite. It needs to be combined with a healthy diet and a monitored calorie intake. By combining all three methods, you can lose unwanted fat.
There are some reasons why exercise is not enough to lose cellulite. Some of these reasons are as follows:
1. Cellulite deposits may be the result of hormones. For example, women contain more estrogen than men and this can cause cellulite build up.
2. Genetics can also play a part in the body gaining cellulite. Genetic factors such as sex and race may predetermine a person’s ability to easily gain cellulite.
3. A person’s lifestyle is a huge contributor to the amount of cellulite they gain. People who smoke, do not exercise, eat high fat foods, or are stagnant tend to build cellulite more than those who eat right and exercise.
Exercise is still one of the best ways to combat cellulite deposits on the body but take into consideration these other contributing factors and try to change the ones that you are able to change.
