Exercise Delays Alzheimer’s Symptoms
Many researches and studies have proved that exercise can help a person in improving the memory and the functioning of the brain.
It is well known that people exercise to lose their extra weight, fight stress and to be energetic, but what is not known by many of us is that exercise is also helpful in fighting against Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a sickness which reduces the mind powers and the personality of the diseased person. Alzheimer’s can be delayed and treated by drugs only if it is diagnosed in an early stage. However, there no is no such cure for this illness.
According to a recent study, memory decline, which is an early symptom of Alzheimer’s disease, can be slowed down by moderate exercise. This research is based on a study conducted on many people of the age of 65 and above. These adults were not affected by dementia when the study started. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s in older people. The people who exercised for about 3 times in a week were less likely to develop Alzheimer’s over a period of six years.
Researchers found out, with the help of a standard test of cognition, that the Alzheimer’s patients who performed a moderate exercise over the period, scored better results on the dementia rating scale.
According to researchers, exercises affect the memory only if it is regular and moderate.
It is important to be physically fit in order to be mentally fit and healthy. If you wish to have a fit mind, then start staying physically fit and healthy. If exercise is good for the heart, then it is no less for the brain. The risk factors for heart diseases are the same for memory decline. A diet rich in antioxidants and moderate exercises, like aerobics, can help you protect your brain from damages related to cognitive disorders.
So, if you want to stay mentally and physically fit, start to work out and plan on a moderate exercise. This will also be helpful in slowing down your aging process as well.
