Elliptical Trainer, the Complete Workout

The elliptical trainer combines the movements of the stair climber, treadmill and the exercise bike. The drive system, resistance system and stride length are included in elliptical machines.

Why make this selection?

Elliptical trainers have several benefits, including the absence of impact. With this equipment you can make your legs travel in an elongated circular motion.

Because of the absence of impact, workouts become safer for joints. Therefore, it is ideal for anyone who has back, knee, hip or joint problems, and also for the elderly. Although it offers a no-impact workout, it does build bone density and keeps osteoporosis at bay.

Your lower legs are built and become strong because it challenges all the muscles of the lower leg. You work on your quadriceps and gluteal muscles. Some machines give you a full body workout by providing handles that can be moved back and forth. This way you will be working on your upper body as well as lower body including cardio, on a single machine.

It does not end here. It also gives you a lower perceived rate of exertion. In other words, you do not feel your workout. You do more work and burn more calories, but you do not feel like that. This way you can burn even more calories.

You can be sure not to be ever bored when working out on an elliptical trainer. There is a lot of variety it has to offer and you can also cross train on it.

For those of you who are careful about cleanliness, this one is smaller than a treadmill and easily movable. Therefore, if you want to clean, it will not take much effort to move it. You can even store it away if you are looking to make room for company.

It will not be possible to simply try out one and buy it. Several factors go into deciding what machine you want to buy. You need to keep in mind the budget, size, warranty, maintenance and features that the machine has to offer before you make your decision.

However, when you are trying to make up your mind about selecting elliptical equipment for yourself, remember that on an average, an elliptical workout will burn 13 calories per minute. It has a lot of benefits to offer. Therefore, make a wise decision and get one for yourself.
