Eating Well: Improve Your Body & Mind

Have you been feeling something amiss lately? Have you been feeling somewhat emotional these days? It is important that you have a look at your body to see what it is telling you.

Take a Food Test

No, you do not have to eat something for this. You need to take an inventory of the food in your fridge. If all you see is junk food then your diet may be causing you trouble.

You are what you eat. Eating a healthy and balanced diet not only keeps your body healthy, it even maintains your emotional health.

Improve Your Sexual Health

If you do not feel that excited anymore about sex, then you can try some of these foods to help improve your sexual health. Foods like oily fish, oysters, beans, nuts and whole grains will help increase the flow in your body including your genitals.

Seafood and walnuts help to lower the bad cholesterol because they contain the healthy omega 3s. Oysters, beans and nuts are high in zinc, which is essential for sperm production. Whole grains contain niacin, Vitamin B3 as well as zinc, which is essential for the synthesis of sex hormones.

Increase Your Muscle Mass

Foods like fortified cereal or oatmeal, dark green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits and peppers help to build up muscle mass.

Thiamine stimulates muscle growth and muscle tone development. Fortified cereal and oatmeal are thiamine rich. The green leafy vegetables help to maintain the body’s water balance and reduce cramping during workouts.

Citrus fruits and peppers are rich in vitamin C, which helps in building healthy bones, cartilage and muscles.

Energize Yourself

If you’ve been lacking energy then you should try red meat, dark leafy greens, legumes, beans and poultry. Red meat, leafy greens and legumes are rich sources of iron, which increases mental alertness. You should eat these with citrus fruits or anything rich in vitamin C because it enhances iron absorption.

Meat, beans and poultry are high in protein so they are bound to give you an energy boost.

Increase Your Memory

Cauliflower, egg yolks, apples, avocados, broccoli, tomatoes and shrimp help to increase memory.  Cauliflower and egg yolks contain choline, which produces acetylcholine, which helps to increase your attention span and memory.

Apples, avocado and broccoli, rich in boron,  increase your attention span while improving your hand-eye coordination and short-term memory. Tomatoes and shrimp are rich in selenium and lycopene, which are antioxidants that neutralize free radicals and prevent mental deterioration.

Ease Your Depression

Eat some brown rice, whole-wheat pasta and sweet potatoes to ease your anxiety. They contain complex carbohydrates that help in serotonin production, which is responsible for feelings of relaxation, optimism and general well-being.

Get Great Skin and Hair

While you might not care so much about it, the women around you do. Therefore, eat carrots, yellow peppers, eggs, milk, almonds and dark green leafy vegetables to see some results. Carrots and yellow peppers are vitamin A rich, which helps to maintain healthy skin, hair and teeth.

Eggs, milk and almonds contain riboflavin, which keeps your skin healthy.
