If you are talking about nutrition, people are bound to listen. These days, when people have become over conscious about their diets, dieticians have been raised to the level of demigods. There are a multitude of questions about what good eating habits consist of, some of which are answered here:
Do I need supplements even if I eat well?
Supplements can never replace food. If you are eating a balanced diet which includes all four food groups, then you should not worry about taking supplements.
Are fruits and vegetables the only healthy snacks?
You can mix and match your snacks from grain, vegetable and fruit, dairy, or meat and high protein items. You can create a good snack from any of these.
If you eat late at night, will you gain weight?
Contrary to common belief, you will not. Only be sure to avoid junk food right before bed or, for that matter, at any time of the day.
Do carbohydrates make you fat?
Your body converts carbohydrates into glucose and glycogen and if some carbs still remain they become fat. Therefore, if you eat more than the required amount of carbs, you will gain fat.
Is a protein shake necessary before a workout?
If you think you are not getting enough protein in your diet, then you should add a protein shake. And if you are looking to build muscle mass, then it would be a good idea as well.
Is soda unhealthy?
Most sodas are loaded with sugar, which will only add calories and fat. Therefore, limit sodas.
How unhealthy is coffee?
Gourmet coffees, café au lait and iced coffees have lots of sugar and cream. Therefore, you should stay away from them. In addition, coffee has caffeine, which stimulates your brain and can cause sleep deprivation.
Should I go for low-fat foods?
You can choose these, but you should check for the amount of carbs in them. And just because they are low-fat, it doesn’t give you permission to go crazy with them.
Is red meat bad?
You can eat lean meat. It has a lot of nutrients like iron and protein and it helps in muscle growth.
Are several small meals throughout the day better?
If you want to lose weight, then have five to six small meals throughout the day. It will keep your metabolism busy and help to burn more calories.
Is tea healthy?
Tea contains antioxidants, which prevent heart disease. However, it is still under study.
