Vegetables and fruit are the most refreshing foods to satisfy you hunger. They are the greatest source of vitamins and other important nutrients. It is recommended to have at least five to ten servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Now what are servings? Read further to find out.
The perfect form of serving is one medium sized fruit or vegetable. They are perfect snacks for in between meals. You can also measure a serving and it comes around 125 ml or a cup. Fresh fruits and vegetables are always suggested over the processed fruits and vegetables because when they are processed, they lose the vital nutrients.
A serving of fresh fruit or vegetable juice is also an easy way to fill in. don’t fool your self by having a serving of concentrated juice. Instead drink a glass of real juice with the pulp as it contains all the important nutrients. Make it a habit to have fresh juice in breakfast to reach your goal of five to ten servings a day.
Salad and vegetable soup also contribute to the servings. When ever you prepare you meal make sure to include salad or vegetable soup. Avoid the fatty dressings.
Another option to measure a serving of fruits and vegetable is 50 ml of dried fruits. Basically all the fruits can be dried and can serve as healthy snacks. Make sure that your fruits are not fried. Or else the whole concept to increase your fruit and vegetable serving will go in vein.

Breakfast: – fruit juice, add some fruits in your cereals, fruit milkshake, and slices of fresh fruits.
Lunch:-mixed salad without fatty dressing, vegetable soup, fruits, and vegetable sandwich.
Dinner:-pasta cooked with fresh vegetables, vegetarian pizza, a veggie platter as an appetizer and fruits with the dessert.
The above given are just examples. There are several possibilities with excellent results. Studies have proven that fruits and vegetables are great sources to reduce the risk of cancer, heart diseases and strokes.
They provide vitamins and minerals which are beneficial to your health. Try to prepare your fruits and vegetables every night before you go to bed. That way you will have them ready to eat.
