Drop the Weight with Carb Blockers

June 11, 2009

carbblockerAre you one of the many people that succumb to the temptation of potato chips, bread, pasta, sweets, and other high carbohydrate foods? Well, you’re not the only person who cannot say “no” to these tempting high carbohydrate foods.

Many people battle with their high carbohydrate food indulgences. Because of all of these tempting foods and our inability to control our urges and intake of them, we are faced with a weight crisis.  Obesity, which occurs when people are severely overweight, is one of the biggest health concerns facing many people.

It is also one of the hardest health problems to resolve. People, who are overweight, require a helping hand to help them fight the cravings and lose the weight.

Sometimes overweight people rely on weight loss pills and supplements to help them battle their cravings and lose weight. One such product on the market that can help you lose weight and still allows you to enjoy high carbohydrate foods in moderation are carb blocker supplements. These supplements are a safe, effective, and a natural way to lose weight.

Carb blockers are also marketed as starch blockers. Carb blockers work by going after a digestive enzyme that the body produces called alpha amylase.

The alpha amylase enzyme is responsible for breaking down carbohydrates into sugar and then storing the sugar in the body as fat. Carb blockers prevent the alpha amylase enzyme from absorbing the carbohydrates.

When the carbohydrates are not absorbed by the body, they cannot be converted into sugar and stored as fat. The key ingredient in carb blocker supplements is called Phaseolus Vulgaris. This ingredient is extracted primarily from white kidney beans. It can also be found in wheat germ.

Now, that you understand how the body processes carbohydrates and how carb blocker supplements can retard the absorption of carbohydrates in the body, you need to know how they can work for you personally.

Carb blocker supplements work slowly on their own, but when coupled with a low carb diet such as the Atkins or South Beach diet you can see greater results.

Everybody craves high carbohydrate food products and the body actually needs carbohydrates to function properly. These carb blocker supplements enable you to eat carbohydrates and get the right amount that you body needs while blocking the remaining amount.

These are not miracle pills. They need to be combined with a healthy diet and exercise to see results. But they are a good start to reducing the amount of carbohydrates that would normally be stored by your body as fat.
