Dietary Tips for Traveling
One has to travel sometime or the other in life and following proper diet during traveling is necessary to keep oneself healthy and fit. While people with problems like diabetes and heart related disorders need to keep a strict watch on their diet, healthy people too should ensure proper dietary habits during traveling so as to avoid any infection or ailment due to unhealthy eating. In addition, following a proper dietary plan is a good habit which yields long term health benefits and helps in keeping one physically and emotionally fit.
If you are planning to take up a journey, you should pack some healthy and tasty snacks as feeling hungry during long journeys is a very natural phenomenon. These snacks can include items like low-fat crisps and sandwiches, fruit, diet drinks and even low sugar cereal bars. In addition to snacks, one can also carry one’s lunch consisting of vegetable, dal and rice which can be easily packed. This can be made more delicious by the addition of lemon and any other vegetable pickle without oil. Salads of any seasonal vegetable can be taken to make your diet a healthy and a nutritious one. One can also carry healthy drinks from home like lemon water or fruit juices rather than indulging in unhealthy acidic drinks. Moreover, if one is not diabetic, one can even add sweets in one’s diet which are not too oily or heavy.
If one is traveling by train, one often gets tempted to eat the food from stalls but these items might be unhealthy due to the high level of oil content in them. Similarly, one should avoid alcohol intake during traveling by air or any other medium as alcohol can lead to dehydrating of a person along with leading to constant headaches and other ailments. Follow some basic guidelines and let your journey be a happy and a healthy one.
