Diet Plan For Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition when a person is unable to process glucose. Diabetes is a common disease that is affecting millions of people right around the world. Many of the foods you eat are normally converted into a type of sugar called glucose during digestion. The bloodstream then carries glucose through the body. The hormone, insulin, then turns glucose into quick energy or is stored for further use.
Causes of Diabetes: You are at risk of diabetes if you have a generic predisposition to it. You may have diabetes history in your family’s past. If you are overweight the chances of cause of diabetes then increases.
Diet Plan for Diabetes: Any type of diabetes can be removed by a proper diet plan. A healthy eating plan for a Diabetic person is a traditional low fat diet. This diet would have a ration of 25-30% fats, 50-55% carbs, and 20% protein. Diet plan for diabetes patient is mentioned below:
Breakfast-
• ½ of grapefruit,
• A bowl of oatmeal mixes with extra low fat milk
• 1tsp honey and 1tsp flax seeds.
Lunch-
• Take 40g rice and cook them.
• Serve with 4oz cooked chicken strips.
• Small medium sized orange, chopped cucumber and 2 tsp pine nuts.
• Serve with oil free French dressing.
Dinner-
• Eat 4 oz salmon fillet topped with 1 1/2 Tsp olive oil blended with 1 garlic clove.
• Grill and serve with 6 medium potatoes (mashed).
• Peas and spinach.
• 1 glass of fresh juice or white wine.
Snack After breakfast-
• 1 kiwi fruit or any low calorie seasonal fruit.
Mid Afternoon Snack-
• 2 dark crisp bread seasoned with yeast extract.
Along with proper nutrient diet patient should take care of these things:
• Diabetic patient should drink plenty of water. Prefer to drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. It will help to aid kidney infection.
• Add fresh seasonal fruits, vegetables and salads in your diet as it will help to provide proper nutrients to the body.
• Patient should practice exercise and meditation as it will help to keep him fit.
• Instead of taking 3 heavy meals patient should prefer taking 4-5 light meals.
