Diet for healthy hair
Hair too needs healthy food to look good. The food that we eat reflects on our hair. So the healthier we eat the healthier our hair looks. All the best treatment in the world will not be effective if the hair does not receive adequate nutrition.
An improper diet may result in dull, brittle hair that breaks off easily and ultimately results in hair loss.
Water: It is recommended to consume eight to ten glasses of water per day. This helps not only in keeping your body healthy but also hydrates your hair leaving it silky, soft, supple, and shiny. It is said that a quarter of the weight of your hair comprises of water.
Proteins: Hair is made up of a protein called keratin, which keeps the hair healthy. Foods that are rich in vitamins are fish, eggs, meat, cottage cheese, cheese, yoghurt, lentils, peas, beans, and nuts. As far as possible eat whole grain cereals instead of regular cereals.
Vitamins: B complex is an essential vitamin for the hair. Not only does it keep the hair looking shiny it also prevents hair loss. Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables should be consumed.
Salmon is rich in Vitamin B12. Soak a few almonds overnight and have them. Almond is a major source of vitamin and mineral. A salad with vegetables like tomato, carrot, cucumber, lettuce, and cabbage are rich in vitamins and must be included in your diet.
A glass of vegetable juice or some brewer’s yeast would also provide the necessary vitamins. Vitamin supplements may also be taken.
Minerals: Nuts of all kind especially Brazil nuts provide your hair with the required minerals to make it thick and strong. Iron, zinc, magnesium, and potassium are some of the minerals essential for your hair.
Dark leafy vegetables are the primary source of iron. Iron causes the hair to be dry and break easily so ensure to include greens in your diet regularly. Sulphur gives strength to the hair while a deficiency of iodine to the thyroid could cause numerous hair problems.
