Comfort foods, emotional eating and how to stop them

comforteatingIf you have tried everything in your capacity to lose weight, but just can’t seem to shed those pounds, consider this article. There are many reasons why people eat.

The only reason people need to eat, is to keep the bodies running, right? Many of us use food for other reasons. We use food to control emotional issues in our lives. I like to call this type of eating “comfort eating”.

If you are trying to lose weight, you must address the cause of your weight problem.

There is no point trying to fight weight loss, if you cannot identify the thing causing it. Of course, you gain weight because you eat more than your body can use up.

The body turns the excess food into fat, saving it up for a “rainy day”. However, why do you eat too much? Why is your body telling you to eat when it does not need more food? Consider your emotions.

Often we come home from a tough day at the office, perhaps we lost out on an important deal, may be we had an argument with a co-worker. Whatever the reasons, being upset makes us want to feel better.

Our brains associate the thought of eating tasty foods with feeling good. Don’t let your body or mind trick you into getting fat! You can be in control with a little effort.

Do not worry about the easy fix answers you see. These only get in the way. There are a few things that you need to consider before you can identify exactly why you over eat.

Do you eat when your stomach does not feel hungry? If you are already full, don’t eat more. Are there any foods that make you feel better? You may be attaching artificial emotions to the food.

Learn to identify what triggers the feeling to eat. It’s not always because of actual hunger. If you begin to think about how your body and brain interact with the world around you, you can start to beat the fat and get in touch with the real “you”.

Overeating is a disorder. It doesn’t have to be a part of your life any more. Junk food has no power over you, your mind is powerful. With proper exercise and a healthy eating plan, anybody can look and feel great. Good luck!
