Chronic Headaches
The rising stress and strain of life has made headaches a common ailment in everybody’s life. However, if you are suffering from headaches more often than not, then the chances are that you may be suffering from the problem of chronic headaches. These headaches are further divided into specific categories like chronic migraine, chronic tension-type headache, daily persistent headaches and hemicrania continua. Whatever be the type, the end result is a painful problem which hampers one’s smooth and healthy existence.
Tension type headaches are quite common in the kind of competitive and stressful life people are living in today. These kinds of headaches are characterized by mild to moderate pain on both sides of the head, feeling of tightening around the head and by a feeling of muscle tenderness. Daily persistent headaches start suddenly and they occur daily within three days of onset and they can also be accompanied by a feeling of nausea. While this kind of headache can occur on both sides of the head, hemicrania continua is a kind of chronic headache which occurs on only one side of the head. It can also include tearing or redness of the eye on the affected side, nasal congestion or running nose. Nausea and vomiting is also associated with migraines which can range from moderate to severe intensity involving a throbbing or pulsating pain in one side of the head.
Chronic headaches can be triggered by stress and tension. It can also be an indication of some underlying problem like infections, brain tumor, meningitis, and even due to inflammation in the blood vessels. Some people even get chronic headaches due to some food items which act as triggers. Avoid such triggering items which can aggravate the condition, get enough sleep and ensure eating regularly to avoid such headaches. If the headaches persist, one should take medical attention and treatments to get rid of the chronic pain and discomfort associated with such headaches.
