There are so many good things that we can take for health but we only know certain things and our knowledge is limited when it comes to food for health. Here is one such thing only a few would know about it and its chromium which has abundant benefits for health and its deficiency can cause number of diseases.
Chromium is an essential mineral and is important for the formation of glucose tolerance factor. Body uses chromium to balance blood sugar and it metabolizes macronutrients.
In order to avoid its deficiency one should eat a diet rich in chromium. The function of chromium is very vital for health and it also maintains the storage of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in body.
There are ample of health benefits which one can draw from this mineral. Besides, balancing blood sugar, it also helps in regulating hunger, reduces craving for food, enhances and protects DNA and RNA, it is vital for hearth’s function and it helps to control fat deposition and maintains the cholesterol level in the blood.
Be aware of the deficiency of chromium. Symptoms are such as cold sweats, dizziness, getting hunger very fast, cold hands, drowsiness during day time, addiction to sweet foods, frequent urination and excessive thirst. People who are very much stress and high diet in refined sugars and flours are more likely to suffer from deficiency.
Here are food sources rich in chromium content. Increase the amount and quantity of foods that are rich in chromium presence. Peas are excellent source of chromium. You can take oysters, rye bread, potatoes, wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, whole wheat bread and shredded wheat breakfast cereal. These foods are rich in chromium. Apart from the above green peppers, eggs, chicken, butter, parsnips and if you can go for Swedish cheese.
