Cardiovascular Exercises
Cardiovascular exercises have been categorized into an extremely essential range of workouts. As a result, it is receiving utmost attention due to awareness of physical fitness, weight management, and cardio respiratory health maintenance. It is known by different terms, such as cardiovascular exercise, cardio respiratory fitness and aerobic exercises, but all have more or less similar impact. All these exercises demand large muscle action, increasing the heart rate to almost 50%, such as walking, jogging, biking, swimming, and any other successive muscular activity that can be carried out over a sustained period of time.
Cardiovascular exercise has various advantages. These tend to lower blood pressure, improving HDL (good) cholesterol which helps in eliminating LDL (bad) cholesterol, reduces body fat, minimizes glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, boosts heart and lung function and competency, and also reduces anxiety, stress and depression.
All of these benefits together account for the lowered risk of cardiovascular diseases by reducing ailments or conditions, such as obesity, hypertension, and high blood cholesterol. Moreover, cardiovascular exercises also set the mood for the healthy activities of daily living, sports, such as dancing, basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf, skiing, boxing, hiking, and strength training programs as all these activities gain from cardiovascular exercises. Daily strenuous chores and physical activities also have a very positive impact because those activities gear up stamina, lessen fatigue and lower the risk of injury. But, there are several precautions, which are extremely important for right impact and exercise safety.
Cardiovascular exercise should not be followed immediately after full meal. It can restrict oxygen and nutrient distribution to the working muscles, and lead to gastric uneasiness. So, it is advisable to wait for around 60-90 minutes after a full meal and then indulge in cardiovascular exercise. The intensity of exercise and the quantity and kind of food eaten should also be considered, as the time required for digestion of different meals is different.
