Capoeira is an African system of unarmed combat. It was developed in 1500 by those slaves that were taken to Brazil. It is very distinctive martial art. It is one of the fastest growing martial arts all over the world. This is also combining with dance, sing and clap as well as aerobic.
Capoeira includes footwork called Ginga and basic kicks which include roundhouse kicks, side kicks, a front stomping kick, low and a high turning kicks, and outside and inside crescent kicks.
Capoeira Angola- Capoeira Angola, an ancient martial art of African origin, is one of the many cultural weapons used to break the chains of enslavement in Brazil. It features a slower moving and stays very close to the ground. This is very technical and detailed. All the practitioners and doers are very close to each other. This style of capoeira is known for its practice in slower pace. It is simply better known for the slower, low to the ground aspect it contains.
Capoeira regional- This regional style is created by Mestre Bimba. It is faster than capoeira Angola. It maintains the technical and detailed aspect of Angola but it can be speed up and can be a competitive aspect. Also, Capoeira Regional was the first style to use a ranking system. Many of the changes added in Regional were developed to help popularize Capoeira.
Steps of performing Capoeira acrobatics:
First, prepare yourself to do acrobatics.
Stretch your arms and legs before performing capoeira acrobatics.
Squat down on the floor but remember one thing your knees should not touch on the floor.
Bring your other hand around in a circle towards the back and push off with your legs doing a complete flip.
Do the entire movement in a circular motion.
Now, follow through the flip and stand back up.
Do the same steps with from starting position with addition of some ginga steps.
Now, reach down and place your lead hand on to the floor.
Follow all the above mentioned steps to complete the flip.
Stand back up and continue doing some ginga steps.
Make a combination of ginga with acrobatics.
It looks more like a dance than a defensive maneuver.
Remember one thing, always practice capoeira on a mat and with supervision. It is very easy to sustain an injury if you are not sure of how to complete the moves.
