Can Liquid Calories Ruin Your Diet?

A lot of clinical research conducted, tells us that solid foods alone do not add to our weight, but liquid calories also give us unwanted weight gain.

Liquid calories come from cold drinks, beverages and other sweetened fruit juices that everybody seems to love.

Because of these researches, they have launched many ‘diet’ soft drinks in the market, sold as sugar free drinks. These drinks give ample choice to those who are dieting. Apart from these drinks, artificial sweeteners are also available in the market, which you can add to your coffee and tea and thus avoid the calories that come with your endless cups of tea and coffee through the day.

However, it is all market hype, because, the market would be inundated with them, if these artificial and non- sugar- sweetening agents were any good. Cold drink companies have now shifted to these sweeteners. As a result, the market is full of cold drinks flavored with artificial sweeteners. However, not all the cold drink fans are crazy about these odd and bitter tasting sweeteners.

Nevertheless, the million- dollar question is whether these artificial sweeteners help in reducing your weight. It is a proven fact that a slight weight loss does occur, when you cut back on these liquid calories.

If you are content in losing about one pound in six months due to the cutting down of liquid calories, then of course you must cut down on the liquid calories. Usual diet plans always ask you to cut down on your soft drinks.

All the diet plans work on one principle and that is reducing calorie intake, either liquid or solid. It does not take a genius to understand that calories are the main culprits behind weight gain.

Understand this, that if you cut down on calories, your body will not store them as fat. The question that needs to be answered is whether this method of weight loss is most effective or not.

There are other and more sensible ways to reduce your fat. You can lose your excessive baggage of extra weight without sacrificing your fun with cold drinks etc. Remember that every person’s body metabolic rate varies and it adjusts according to the calories the body takes in. Therefore, the secret to losing weight lies in calorie shifting.
