What you eat directly affects your health. To maintain a healthy body, you should have a balanced diet. For centuries, for many social, economic and traditional reasons, a traditional Indian diet has been mainly vegetarian, with a combination of rice, vegetables, spices, lentils, wheat etc. An Indian diet contains the basic nutrients and calorie requirement for a healthy individual.
An Indian diet is a combination of cereals, pulses, fruits, vegetables, millets, milk and milk products, meat and meat products, sugar, fat and fiber to give you a healthy diet. An Indian diet also provides you with the necessary calories, proteins, vitamins and minerals. The calorie intake has to be controlled and by knowing the calories present in various Indian foods, you can choose them accordingly in your diet.
Indian diets tend to contain more vegetables, less meat and fewer additives and packed and processed food. A study published by American Lung Association showed that Indian children in Briton, who lived on Indian diet, had less risk of Asthma and allergy, than children who ate western diet. An average Indian diet was found to be healthier than an average Western diet.
Because Indian food contains required calories for good health, the traditional Indian diet with the avoidance of sugar, is considered to be an ideal diet for diabetes.
