Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, also known as Ju Jitsu, Ju Jutsu, and Jujitsu, is an ancient martial art used by the Samurai warriors of war-torn Japan. The Brazilian art itself consists of punches, kicks, throws, and weapons. Jiu-jitsu techniques rely heavily on leverage, so a practitioner doesn’t have to be extremely strong to train.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art that focusing on a grappling and especially ground fighting. Its goal is to gain a dominant position and joint locks and also chokeholds to force an opponent to submit. It is highly effective and comprehensive system of ground defense techniques. Many civilians, martial artists and enforcement officers consistently used Brazilian jiu-jitsu because of its simple and effective techniques.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu induces a sense of endurance in women as it is associates with many self-defense techniques. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu helps women avoid dangerous situations and empowers them with simple escape techniques. It is designed to help a woman save herself from her attacker, whether she is on her feet or anywhere.

The art also enables smaller and weaker person using leverage and proper technique to successfully defend against a bigger and stronger assailant. Over 95% of street fights finish on the ground, so there is a need of self defense. Taking an attacker to the ground eliminates around 80% of their arsenal, leaving you in a perfect position to finish the fight. There are many techniques associated with the jiu-jitsu. The most important and valuable technique is mentioned below:

The mount- It is the most common position found in street fights.
Technique- Rest all your weight on your opponent stomach or chest. If the opponent attempt any strike, chock or other submission holds, you can sit back to counter the techniques. You can smother your opponent and making it difficult to breath and if he tried to escape further, it will make him frustrate. This is a good position in which you can rest yourself. You can also wrap an arm round your opponent neck to stop him moving out from underneath you and while doing the technique if your opponent tries to move or lift knees it is a good time to grapevine them. It makes him more difficult to move. The usual escape from the mount requires the person on the bottom to raise the hips to roll the opponent off. With both legs wrapped up the person on top can prevent themselves from rolling off.
