Bodybuilding the Natural Way

April 8, 2009

bodybuildingnaturalwayIt is true to say that most people go to the gym to body build.  When someone says that they are bodybuilding at the gym, this statement should not be confused with the sport of bodybuilding.  Most people participate in natural bodybuilding.

The difference between natural bodybuilding and bodybuilding for sport is that natural bodybuilding does not use steroids, drugs or other muscles enhancers.  Instead, the muscles develop through exercise and a healthy diet.

To start a bodybuilding regimen, you will need to have a training program laid out.  A natural bodybuilding training program should be made up of weight training, a healthy diet and plenty of rest.

Just like any other weight training program, those who train with a natural body building program are susceptible to micro trauma which affects the muscles being used.  Micro trauma can lead to Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS).

When your body repairs the damaged muscle it is called an anabolism.  This means the muscle is growing again.  To avoid having micro trauma, follow the rules listed below:

1.    Do not train for more than sixty minutes.

2.    Break for about one minute in between exercises.  This will enhance your muscle growth.

3.    Each set should have between six and fifteen repetitions.  The more the repetitions, the higher your hormone levels will be and the better your blood will circulate.

Diet is also very important when it comes to natural bodybuilding.  When bodybuilding, add an additional 500 to 1000 calories to your current diet each day.  You will need to take a look at the types of food you are consuming.

Bodybuilders should take in more complex carbohydrates and proteins and less simple sugars.

Complex carbohydrates provide energy that is ready to be expended.  Proteins build and repair muscles.  Simple sugars are stored in the body as fat and are often never used for energy.

The recommended amount of protein intake for a natural bodybuilder is one to two grams of protein for each pound of your body weight.  Some good sources of protein are chicken, whey protein and egg whites.

Lastly, the final aspect of natural bodybuilding is allowing your body to rest.  It is important that your body receives an adequate amount of sleep each night.

Not only do you need to sleep for a certain period of time, but the type of sleep you get must be of quality.  When we rest our muscles regenerate themselves.
