Let’s face it, when it comes to losing and gaining weight, the gaining part is so much easier to accomplish. It is also another sad fact that men can lose weight quicker than women. The reason for this is because our bodies are designed to protect babies and our bodies. The estrogen in women’s bodies doesn’t help either.

The ideal body fat percentage for women is 12%. Unfortunately, most are at least 22%, which is not a good thing. If you are a female, your body fat should be at 17% if you are an athlete, lean is 17 to 22%, normal is 22 to 25%, above average is 25 to 29%, over fat is 29 to 35% and obese is 35 + %.

If you are wondering what your body fat percentage is, it is very easy to find this out. You can have your doctor do an x-ray for bone density, have your weight taken under water, and, if the person knows what they are doing, a pinch test which needs to be done by someone else.

One of the ways that you can measure at home is to do the Navy tape measure method. It is best to do this method using centimeters but, if you have to do inches that is okay, just be sure to be within a ¼ if an inch for accurate measurements.

In order to keep the fat down in your body, a great diet and proper exercise is the key to keeping your body fit and trim. There are ways to work on burning the fat in your body and to keep yourself lean and mean.

If you do a little bit of research, you will be able to find many different ways to be able to control your body fat. There are specific exercises that you can do to trim the fat and look your best so that you are lean and mean and a fat burning machine. So, watch what you eat and you will be on your way to a new and beautiful you.
