Black Heads

Black heads are the result of the deposition of the dirt and oil and its collective hardening in the pores of skin. When the collected grease and grime comes in contact with the air, it oxidizes and turns black forming a black head. Further, the pores are covered and blocked with deposited sebum or oil. The dark emergence of black color is due to the densely packed skin cells.  So, blackheads are formed by this process. Now, the pores are blocked due to black heads and suppress oil glands, which cause pimples.

To prevent blackheads, the food items responsible for constipation and other stomach imbalance should be avoided. Washing the face with mild soap is important to remove grease and grime to prevent black heads formation.  Washing face with plain water should be done 4-5 times a day. Some drugs are effective in reducing the blackhead by stimulating skin cells growth by the process of cellular differentiation such as a thin film of adapalene gel applied once daily before going to bed is helpful in the problem.

Sunbathing is helpful in preventing black heads because the ultraviolet rays aid the skin to open up clogged pores and cleaning the black heads. Hair should not come in contact with face as oily hair and skin touching each other can spread infection.

Black heads can be prevented by applying warm honey on the effected portion of the skin and washing it after few minutes.

One teaspoon of coriander leaf juice mixed with half teaspoon of turmeric powder can be used as an ointment applied at night and wash it off in the morning. Repeating this for a week can help in getting rid of the problem of blackheads. Boiled and cooled oatmeal mixed with some lemon juice can be applied to the affected area.
