Big Snacks for Your Brain
If you are feeling unmotivated and cannot calculate things quickly, it could be that your brain is not being fed properly. It is important to eat the right foods throughout the day. Water, foods containing antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids and iron should be part of your diet.
One cause of diet problem is the kind of snacks we eat. The benefits of a well planned diet are often thrown overboard by eating unhealthy snacks. But there are certain snacks that can help your brain. Read on for some great brain snack ideas.
Tofu fruit shake
Instead of taking the normal cup of coffee or some sugar drink, you can try tofu fruit shake. Tofu contains proteins that build and repair body tissues. There is proof that tofu helps boost memory. The antioxidants in fruits protect brain cells.
To prepare tofu fruit shake, you need 1 (12 oz) package firm silken tofu and 1 cup of fat free soy milk. You also need 1 cup raspberries, 1 banana and 1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate. Mix all these ingredients in a blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
Trail Mix
The body needs iron to circulate oxygen to the brain cells for the maintenance of attention spans and improving coordination. The energy the brain need is in carbohydrates. Taking a simple trail mix will give you all these. This brain snack could be taken anywhere.
Prepare a simple trail mix with 1 cup of diced dried fruit, 1 1/2 cups of sunflower seeds (unsalted), 1 cup of dry-roasted peanuts (unsalted) and 1/2 cup of raisins, ½ cup of dried cherries (optional), Just put all these in a bag and shake thoroughly.
Cinnamon walnuts
Walnuts contain omega 3 which feed the nervous system and fight depression. The ingredients needed are water, some walnuts, cinnamon and sea salt. The quantity of each ingredient depends on your taste.
After dissolving the salt in the water, drop in the walnuts; allow them to soak overnight. Drain the water and sprinkle the cinnamon over the walnuts. Roast the walnuts in a 350 F oven till light brown.
Remember that diet alone without exercise is not enough to keep you healthy.
