Sweet Potato is rich in starch and carbohydrates. It tastes excellent when roasted. There are many benefits of sweet potato, like it is rich source of vitamin A and vitamin C .Both Vitamin A & C works as destroyers of free radicals. Free radicals are chemicals that damage cells. Sweet potato is very beneficial for a person who is suffering from stomach ulcers. It is also good for people who are suffering from low blood pressure. It cures constipation as it has very high fiber content.

Other benefits of sweet potato are it is very rich in carbohydrates, so it very good for people who are into body building and also for people who are involved in high energy work. Although it is sweet in nature but it prevents people from diabetes as its helps in stabilizing blood sugar levels. They are rich source of dietary fiber and manganese, copper and iron. It is recommended for people who have low hemoglobin as it is rich in iron content so it can increase hemoglobin.

Sweet potatoes can be abundantly found in the winter seasons especially in the month of November and December. Sweet potatoes are a rich source of vitamin B6, which prevents the body from the risk of heart attacks. As the nutrients present in sweet potato are anti- inflammatory for this reason, it helps in curing asthma, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Sweet potatoes are grouped into many varieties some are firm, dry, and mealy, while others are soft and moist. In both types sweet potato tastes starchy. Care must be taken that sweet potatoes should not be consumed by people who are suffering from stones .As sweet potato contains good amount of oxlate, and oxalate results in formation of kidney stones.

In order to keep sweet potatoes fresh for longer time, they should be stored in cool and dark places. It is better to roast them, if they come in contact with air.
