Oats have been cultivated for over 5000 years, it was earlier considered as food for animals. Oats is a grain which is harvested early in summers. Till today the primary use of oats is for animal feed. But there are benefits of oats for human beings also. Oats have a very good nutritional value which is good for human beings. Oats have a higher value of soluble fiber than any other grains. It has more fiber content than wheat. Amongst the benefits of oats in our regular diet, is that they have very good digestive properties and they help in reducing cholesterol.

Oats are available in several forms like oat cookies, oat flakes in form of muesli which can be consumed with milk .Oat flour can be mixed with wheat flour, it helps in reducing constipation and soothes bowl movement. Oats are a great source of dietary fiber; they contain about 55 % of soluble fiber and 45 % of insoluble fiber. A research study has shown that by including good amount of oats in your diet, it can help in reducing blood pressure and cholesterol.

Oats contain a high amount of complex carbohydrates, which can reduce the risk of colon, breast and prostate cancer. Oats can also help in controlling diabetes as they have low sugar content. Oats have a very high vitamin B1 content which is required by human body for carbohydrate metabolism. Compared to other grains oats have high amount of protein, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, vitamin E, folacin.
Oats have very good amount of amino acid content Amino acids are essential proteins that help in facilitate in optimum functioning of body. Oats have low fat content so it is good for people who are under weight loss programme. Oats has been rated as good health food cereal as it reduces risk of many deadly diseases like cancer, diabetes, obesity.
