Become Healthier With Green Tea

April 28, 2009

greenteapreparationResearch has shown that green tea has several health benefits.  It is because of these health benefits that green tea has become such a popular drink across the world.  Green tea originated in China during ancient times and the Chinese were the first to note the health advantages of drinking green tea.

What makes green tea powerful?

When processed, green tea undergoes minimal oxidation.  Green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, a strong antioxidant.  Antioxidants fight free radicals that are produced by the body and slow the aging process.  The beverage is also rich in vitamin C and vitamin A.

Preparation

Green tea should never be brewed with boiling water.  High temperatures can damage vitamins and other essential minerals.  Boil a cup of water and allow it to cool for some time.

Drop a green tea bag in the cup and let the water steep for three to five minutes.  Remove the tea bag after five minutes to avoid bitterness of the tea.  The tea not only tastes great but is also good for your health.

Health benefits

Green tea improves blood circulation and reduces the chances of developing heart disease.  It also controls sugar levels and lowers cholesterol levels.  High blood pressure is caused by certain chemicals in the body and catechin has great influence on those chemicals.  Green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells while causing no harmful side effects to the human body.

While coffee dehydrates the body, green tea improves the body’s health.  Consuming green tea speeds up the fat burning process and keeps you energized.

The amount of caffeine in green tea is not as high as it is in coffee.  It keeps you refreshed and keeps the body hydrated.

If you have decided to go on a weight loss plan, include a cup of green tea in your daily diet.  This will help accelerate the weight loss process and keep you in shape.

Green tea extracts can be beneficial in the treatment of lymphocytic leukemia.  Tooth decay and other dental issues can be solved with the aid of green tea.

Negative effects

Green tea can unfortunately cause certain health disorders, such as insomnia and restlessness.  These disorders can be more serious if you have kidney and heart problems.  It is for this reason that you should consult with a doctor before consuming large quantities of green tea each day (four to five cups a day).
