Arm Exercises

Arm exercises are very important for the overall health and fitness of a person as they not only help in toning of the arm muscles but also aid in enhancing one’s balance , symmetry and the overall health of a person. Since arms are complex body parts, they have focused programs and workout sessions for them. However, if you are a beginner, you should not try to overstrain your muscles in an attempt to gain immediate results as that can lead to various injuries and even gym fatigue.

There are various exercises for the strengthening of the forearm muscles and one of these exercises is Reverse Curls which involves the workout of the brachialis muscles and the supinators muscles of the forearms. In this form of exercise, one needs to grip a barbell with hands placed shoulder width apart with palms of one’s hands facing down. Let the barbell hang at arms length in front of one’s body along with ensuring that the elbows remain close to the torso at all times. Then, by moving only the forearms, curl the barbell up to shoulder level and hold this position for a second to maximize the peak contraction. Slowly lower the barbell to the starting position and repeat the whole procedure to strengthen the arm muscles.

Another exercise of forearm which involves the workout of extensor muscles is known as Barbell Reverse Wrist Curls. This exercise involves grabbing a barbell hands narrower than shoulder width apart and with Palms of hands facing down. One should sit on a flat exercise bench and let the forearms rest on the bench with wrists hanging over the end of the bench. Using one’s forearm strength, curl the barbell by moving only the wrists in a small semicircular arc. Hold the barbell at the top position for a second to maximize the peak contraction in the forearm extensors. Slowly lower the barbell back to the starting position and repeat the exercise to gain maximum benefits.

There are other arm exercises also available like Dumbbell Reverse Wrist Curls, Dumbbell Wrist Curls and Barbell Wrist Curls amongst others which can enable a person to have fit, strong and healthy arm muscles.
