An Abs Workout that Gets Results
When most men hit the gym with the hopes of building a massive upper body and ripped abdominal section, they go nuts with the weights by pushing themselves to lift extreme amounts of weight.
But it makes more sense to lay off the heavy weights and perform cable exercises on a lower weight instead. This article will give you examples of some of the best abs exercises in order to reach your goals of having the ultimate six-pack stomach.
Exercise One – Arm Swings
To perform arm swings hold one dumbbell in both hands. Your arms should be extended out in front of your chest. Rotate your arms first to the right of your body. Hold this position for a few seconds. Then swing back to the left side of your body. Do ten repetitions to each side of the body.
Exercise Two – Twist Reaches
Stand straight with a dumbbell in each hand. Your arms should be down at your sides with your palms facing your body. With a dumbbell in each hand, lean your body over to the left and twist at the waist.
The weights should reach towards your left foot. Hold this position for a few moments. Come back up to standing position and twist and bend to the right side now. Do ten repetitions on both sides.
Exercise Three – Trunk Twists
From a standing position hold a barbell across your upper back. Your feet should be shoulder width. Keep the legs still as you twist your body from your mid-section to the left and then to the right. Hold each pose for a few seconds. Do ten repetitions for each side.
Exercise Four – Oil Wells
In a standing position take a dumbbell into your right hand. Place the left hand on the back of your head. With the weight in your right hand, bend your body from the mid-section to the right. Hold the pose and then bend over to the left side. Do ten repetitions on each side.
Exercise Five – Pulldowns
Place your body in a kneeling position in front of a cable machine. Reach up to the rope and hold onto the rope attached to the cables in both hands. Keep your arms straight and your back aligned. Pull the rope down to your thighs.
