Acid Reflux and Your Food

AcidRefluxIt is always a common knowledge that food has a big contribution to the condition of our health. When we consult a doctor and complain about something, one of the most likely questions asked is the food that we have eaten for the past days.

For cases of acid reflux troubles, food always has to do with the situation. The severity of the condition is by the triggering factors caused by the kinds of food that you have taken.

If you want to eliminate problems of acid reflux, it is necessary to consider some adjustments in your lifestyle. Your willingness to do it comes with the agreement of taking better care of your health, not only for yourself, but also for your family.

More often than not, acid reflux occurs before bedtime. This means that the first step in the lifestyle change is to correct the habit of eating before bedtime. It is worse to indulge into eating just before you sleep.  The better thing to do is to avoid it. Stop the habit and you will see improvements.

If you cannot avoid taking a midnight snack, then you can perhaps gradually get rid of it. If you take a snack every night, then for this week start with every other night and for the coming week, it will be every three days- until you will no longer do it.

To help reduce your desire to eat, do something else or replace the eating activity with another one that you enjoy, like listening to music or playing an instrument. You know what can get your attention, then, follow it.  However, one more thing, you should not drink coffee as you do it.

There are also foods that we really like but need to go out of our interests. It may be hard to accept but your favorite marinara sauce in spaghetti and in pizza is not very friendly to you.

Start to forget about the sauce.  Another item to forget about is drinking orange juice. It triggers the production of more acids in your body. So replace that orange juice with milk or yogurt.

Finally, you should get rid of spicy foods and chocolates. They allow the production of more acids and this will trigger acid reflux. With self-discipline and control, you will be able to manage that acid reflux problem and you can have a restful sleep at night, always!
