A Guide to Weight Loss

September 14, 2009

WeightLossguideIf you’re one of the many people who are carrying around excess weight on your body and are trying in vain to lose the weight, then you probably know that dieting and weight loss is not an easy feat to undertake.

The first step to weight loss is setting a reasonable goal for yourself. Without a goal and a plan you will not know how to go about losing weight and you won’t be able to celebrate your accomplishments.

Aside from having a goal you have to be prepared to work hard, stay focused and motivated, and make necessary changes to your lifestyle and exercise and eating habits.

Most people who are trying to lose weight are easily enticed. We see the television, internet and magazines advertisements that promise extreme weight loss in a short period of time.

We’re convinced that all we need to do is join a fad diet program and we too will look as good as the models in the ads. Or we may listen to some silly diet program that tells up to eliminate certain food groups or all of the food that we love to eat.

Some programs even encourage skipping meals or starvation. The bottom line is, these diets and pills don’t work. The true way to lose weight is to take a look at your current practices and make the necessary changes to how you eat, what you eat and how active you are.

Here are some of the best ways to lose and manage your weight.

Water

You should drink 6-8 glasses of water each day. Water helps keep your body and your muscles hydrated. It also cleans harmful toxins out of your body. These toxins can cause weight gain.

Eat often

You heard me right. In order to lose weight you need to eat more often. Forget about 3 meals a day. Strive for six small meals. The key word though is small meals.

The same manner of eating is recommended for diabetics and people with cardiac problems. Eating smaller meals throughout the day prevents you from feeling hungry or engaging in binge eating.

Reduce carbs and sugar

While your body needs carbs for energy, you should decrease your intake of carbs and sugar by 30 grams each week.

Add a supplement

Most of your nutrients should come from the food that you eat but sometimes you can’t get all of the nutrients that you need. To get the proper amount of nutrients each day, try taking a dietary supplement. You should look for supplements that contain Acai.

Exercise

Exercise is a very important aspect of weight loss though for many it is not very enjoyable. When you exercise you burn calories and fat. You also increase your metabolism.
