A Formula for Weight Loss Success

weight-loss-tipsIf you want to kick start or improve your weight loss program, you can follow the simple steps listed below.
Goal

Set realistic goals for your weight loss. Make sure there is a timeframe for each goal. Make sure the goals are not too big; if they are, they become vague. Large goals should be broken down into smaller ones with shorter timeframes. Writing these goals down is very important so that you can stay on track.

Reward
When you achieve a goal, celebrate it. Reward yourself with something you really enjoy, as long as it is not food.  You can give yourself a treat at the spa with a massage, or you can buy yourself a new exercise video. You are free to get anything you like, as long as it does not set back the progress that you have already achieved.

Water
You must make sure you stay hydrated. Drink half an ounce of water for every pound of body weight. That means that those who are 150 pounds must drink 75 ounces of water each day. Just after waking up, drink a glass of water. When you feel your energy levels decreasing, drink a glass. Make sure the water is pure.

Eat a healthy breakfast.
Start your day on the right note with a healthy and nutritious breakfast. There should be some protein in your breakfast. If you want energy for maximum concentration during the day, your breakfast should contain complex carbohydrates such as bread or whole grain cereals and low fat proteins like skim milk, low-fat yogurt and cottage cheese.

Exercise daily
You don’t have to do strenuous exercise; you just have to be consistent with whatever program you do. You can avoid boredom by varying your daily choice of activity. For example, you can alternate jogging and walking.
Eat for health and energy

You must think about the effect your eating will have on your health. Don’t eat just anything that is available. Overeating robs the body of energy. Eat to give yourself energy.

Don’t eat after diner.

This is a bad habit which does you more harm than good. Eat enough at diner to feel full, so you will not eat afterwards.
