waysweightlossIf you are the kind of person thinking about diets, then probably your biggest dilemma is how to shed down some weight without packing up what you have lost in the near future.

Below, you will find some useful tips on how to keep the motivation to lose weight and not get discouraged. Maybe you have not thought of these tips before!

(Taking pictures)

Take pictures of yourself. Really. So that later, when you have lost weight you can compare the before and after and have a good laugh. Make sure you are not wearing any makeup, any sports gear; just a bra and a pair of underwear. This is your real body and how it looks right now, before you have started the diet.

(Support groups)

Finding people to share the same experience with you or pass through the same diet as you is equally important. A group will increase the motivation in each of the participants and thus, you will have the necessary backup to withstand the diet. Therefore, start the exercise group and you can even emulate the contest “biggest loser” if you want to.

(Talking about your plans)

While support groups are useful to keep motivation levels up, you can also publicize your goals and aspirations. You can talk about what you want to achieve with close friends, family or even acquaintances and thus, you will ensure you feel at ease with your plans and can even allow other people to share your experiences. Another thing is that you will feel embarrassed to tell these people you have given up, therefore, you will not quit the diet that easily!

(Reading the labels)

When you are out buying food, remember to read the labels and do not just go with the signs that say “low fat” or “low calorie”. The behind of the box might be telling a different story, therefore flip the product over and start reading the calories, sugar, sodium or fat information.

(Setting realistic goals)

Do not stretch yourself into wanting to lose fifty pounds in a short amount of time. Everything takes effort, time and patience to be achieved and you will only be prone to frustration or failure.

Therefore, you should be planning wisely to lose about two pounds a week or something like that, which is humanly within reach. In this way, you will not stretch your body to its limits and your health will remain intact.

(Setting the priorities)

While salad might taste better with dressing and topping, say “No” to yourself. Is this a weight loss strategy? You should also refrain from tasting that mayo that goes with your hoagies because some things add up and you will end up being unsatisfied with your achievements.
