5 Super foods For Weight Loss

October 7, 2009

superfoodloseweightMost people associate weight loss with lesser quantities of food, starvation and a perpetually hungry tummy. However, the truth is that there is a new idea doing rounds.

You can reduce your weight by eating more. If you eat the right foods, you will actually be able to burn more calories and curb your cravings. Expert chefs and food experts came up with brilliant foodstuffs that actually help you in trimming your body.

Beefsteak is notorious as a fatty food. Nevertheless, if used properly, it might actually help you burn off excess fat. It has been proven that people getting their daily requirement of calories from red meat lose more weight than those who consume same amount of calories from other foods.

The reason is the protein element that helps retain the muscle mass and helps in burning fat. You can use organic beef, you can broil or grill top round or sirloin, then slice it finely and add to a salad or you can mix it with vegetables.

Eggs are very helpful in losing weight. You can even eat the yolk without feeling guilty. A low-calorie diet supplemented with egg protein is a better choice than a regular breakfast sans eggs.

The egg protein is filling and tends to make you feel better all through the day. You can make an omelette or scramble the eggs.  You can fix a veggie frittata by baking it on a Sunday and you can go on eating it all through the week.

Another food that can help you to lose weight is kale, which has been underestimated for a long time as a mere garnish for food. A chopped cup of kale contains only 34 calories.

At the same time, it has 1.3 grams of fiber. It also has calcium and iron. Spinach is comparatively milder in taste but equally useful. You can take raw, chopped kale and mix it with black beans after cooking the latter.

Alternatively, you can simply slice it and sauté with veggie broth and then consume with orange slices. You can add quinoa and make a meal out of it.

Oatmeal has emerged as the most satisfying food. Oats have carbohydrates which are very slowly digested. You tend to feel full but the blood sugar level does not rise.

Use oats that are the least processed. They offer you maximum fiber. You can also choose instant oats. You can replace breadcrumbs with oats. You can do the same for turkey, too.

Lentils are also helpful because their protein content is high and so is their soluble fiber. They control your blood sugar level. If you eat them regularly, you will not suffer from insulin spikes. These spikes cause abdominal area fat.
