THE SABUDANA KHICHARI (TAPIOCA-SAGO)
Ingredients
- 3 cups sabudana (tapioca-sago of medium size)
- 2 cups peanuts preferebly roasted
- 1 small green chilli
- ½ inch of piece of ginger
- 1 small tomato
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- ½ cup small cut coriander leaves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 small boiled potato
- 6 cups water
- 2 tsp sunflower oil
- 1 cup pomogranate seeds
Method –
the sago is soaked in water in preferably plastic bowl for at least 4-5 hours. On the other hand cumin seeds, ginger and chilly are made into paste. The peanuts are also grinded into very minute particles. The tomato is cut into smallest possible pieces. The boild potato is cut into pieces too.
Heat a sauce pan on medium fire. Put oil and let it be on fire for a minute. Add the paste of ginger, cumin seeds and chilly to it. Stir it well. The potato is added to that and mixed very well. The sago is put afterwards and mixed with potato and ginger paste. Finally the crushed peanuts and tomatoes are added along with salt. The mixture is mixed well for about 2-3 minutes. The fire is turned off followed by lid put on the pan for about 15 minutes. Afterwards the coriander leaves and pomogranate seeds are just sprinkled over it. The best served with curds.
It is considered to be best light diet. Good for all the people except for those who have hyper acidity. It is easily digestable diet so should not be replaced by major/main meals like lunch.
