MOONG DAAL KHICHARI FOR PITTA DOSHA
Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 cup yellow mung dal
- 1 ½ inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped fine
- 1 small handful cilantro leaves, chopped
- 2 tbsp unsweetened, shredded coconut
- ½ cup water
- 3 tsp ghee
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 6 cups water
method -
wash the mung dal and rice two times. If possible soak them before two hours of cooking. Put the ginger, coconut, cilantro and ½ cup water into a blender and blend until liquefied. Heat the ghee on medium fire in a large saucepan and add the blended items, turmeric and salt. Stir it well. Next mix in the rice, mung dal and 6 cups of water.
Bring to a boil. Boil, uncovererd for 5 mintues. Then cover, leaving the lid slightly afar, turn down the heat to simmer and cook for 25-30 minutes, until dal and rice are tender and gets together.
However it is tridoshic (fit for all), maily beneficial to pitta dosha.
