There is a place called Nogales in Sonora, Mexico as well however, in this article we would look at the available hotels (four star, three star and two star hotels) that are on the American side of the border. Although Nogales has an International Airport and is one of the largest border towns (international) in the United States and certainly the largest in Arizona, yet we don’t get to see any five star hotel in or around the city.
Super 8 Motel – Nogales
The Super 8 Motel is on Mariposa Road, a few miles from the international border with Mexico. Don’t go by the Motel classification since Super 8 properties aren’t bad at all and this one is large enough with 117 rooms, outdoor pools, rooms with sitting areas and more.
Apart from complimentary wireless internet and free continental breakfast, they also offer air conditioned rooms, free local calls, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and televisions playing premium channels. Parking is free and can house even large trucks and there is also a restaurant onsite.
El Dorado Inn Suites
This hotel on Grand Avenue is close to the International airport and the Mexican Border is a few minutes away. Finding the property is easy with its high raised signage. The rooms are fairly large with sitting area considering those are supposed to be suites but they do not come with flat panel televisions.
They have an outdoor pool which is quite big, quite a few pool tables and an onsite restaurant. The rooms have air conditioning, hair dryer, bath tubs, a fax machine, in room safe, microwave and more. An accommodation for 3 people normally costs around 56 USD at this property.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites
This if the first property on our list with a rating and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites is a 2 and a half star hotel in Nogales. Although rooms at more than 100 USD may sound a little steep for a property which is not a four star but the rooms are by no means inferior.
Holiday Inn has large flat panel televisions, fitness center, an outdoor pool, air conditioned public areas, self parking, laundry services and high speed internet services in public places as well. The hotel offers free internet, complimentary breakfast and free local calls along with other standard amenities.
Best Western Sonora Inn & Suites
This hotel is one of the most convenient choices if you intend to stay very close to the Mexican border and explore the downtown shopping area and all that the local life of Nogales and neighboring Sonora has to offer.

It can be regarded as a design hotel and Best Western does the same with this property, what they do best, put up colorful rooms, lively lobby and passages and simple yet trendy restaurants and pools. Not a bad option at a little less than 100 USD considering the location and the hotel’s strong and positive guest reviews.
Esplendor Resort At Rio Rico
Unfortunately there isn’t any four or five star hotel in the Nogales border area and the best there is happens to be a three and a half star hotel, Esplendor Resort.
Rooms range from 130 USD to 200 USD and this hotel has beautifully blended the old Wild West with a little contemporary west, and has remained loyal to the Mexican culture that is prevalent from their rooms’ style and choice of shades.
