If one has dry skin, it goes without saying that such skin requires extra attention and some dry skin care tips that help coping up the situation before it turns worst. Not only is dry skin comfortless with its tightness, but it is also awkward when such skin starts flaking and looks extremely harsh or rough. Nevertheless, many causes of such skin are not because of the problems with the skin or the way it has been treated. According to many skin care (cosmetologists) professionals, somewhere between 15-20% of a general practitioners’ patients come from the skin diseases!

Weather does matter

If you find yourself among such people who suffer from dry skin, you must be curious to learn the best techniques available for keeping the skin hydrated for as long as it is possible. Dry skin is especially a troublesome condition that occurs during the winter months wherein there is a lack of moisture that would cause the skin to itch and make skin care a harder challenge. On the other hand, the woman who has dry skin cannot wear makeup the way she likes to, as this leads to further drying of the skin. Nevertheless, with a simple care and positive attitude with patience, dry skin can care is quite possible and it is easy to maintain as beautiful and supple as moist and general skin.

Causes and overcoming

With too many roles for the human being to juggle in today’s busy, paced and highly pressured lifestyle, there is very less time for anyone to pamper ones’ self. There is a lot of tension, worries, depression anxiety and aging that all, in turn, make the skin less active leaving it dry, fragile, susceptible to get creased, lines near the eyes and mouth and missing the youthful color and glory.

The failure of oil glands to fail in releasing enough oils for moisturizing and protecting the skin results in dry skin. Environmental factors such as dry air, harsh wind, wind with grime or dirt, hormonal imbalance, using of aggressive chemically made cosmetic products including talk, toilet bar, soaps, refreshing tissue papers and other bathing accessories sap the moisture from the skin turning it dry, flaky and chapped, especially during winter months.

As we know that if you want to cool down the boiling water, add some cold water! Here, the theory goes same; if you want to overcome dry skin, make it moist. There are several ways to make the skin moist. Here are some of the most common though effective ways to help overcoming dry skin –

Cleansing and exfoliating the dry skin – This is the first step in any skin care regimen. It begins with cleansing the skin. Since the dry skin generally has a lot of dead cells accumulated on skin’s surface, it also requires exfoliating along with the cleansing. It is only successful when such dead skin cells are removed, that any cream makeup can be applied. Applying aloe gel is considered to be good option for such skin.

Moisturizing the skin – Since dry skin has deficiency of moisture, wrinkling of such skin is obvious to happen. In order to keep the dry skin smooth, moisturizers are required to apply regularly. Combination of Aloe, turmeric and cream that is fortified with Vitamin E is useful here. In many cases, a person having dry skin may notice that after a few hours, the moisturizer disappears and the skin again becomes dry. To prevent this, one can use some glycerin (just a few drops) that makes a big difference and helps keeping the skin moisturized.

Nourishing the skin – The dry skin always starves and probably that is the care of such skin should include an appropriate amount of rich nourishing night creams. This would help restoring its health and keeps on nourishing. To get excellent results, one should apply such special creams at night before hitting the sack since it is at this time that the skin is away from dusts and other pollutants including grime and pollens. The skin can then absorb sufficient nutrition and other potential ingredients present in the product.

One can also apply coconut oil or almond oil to moisturize the dry skin. If there is burning sensation, rose oil or diluted essential oils play keyrole in treating dryness of the skin irrespective of the organ or the body site where it is present.
