Waxing is considered to be an effective technique to remove unwanted hairs in both large and small areas. Waxing is a kind of epilation that means that the entire hair shafts would be removed from underneath the skin's surface. It is one of the most effective therapies to remove hair temporary.

Waxing is quite painful, particularly at sensitive areas of the body. Pain experienced, nevertheless, depends upon the pain threshold of each person. Waxing could cause redness and increase skin sensitivities for a couple of hours. If one is using oral retinoids (isotretinoin and acitretin), waxing is not advised until such medications are stopped for about 6 months to one year. Taking such medications and if one undergoes waxing might cause tearing of the skins and possible scars. Waxing is not advisable on the skin having irritation, sunburned or broken.

The efficacy of waxing

Waxing is one of the most effective therapies of epilation since the hairs are removed completely from the hair shafts in greater quantities. After waxing, it might take 2-3 weeks for the hairs to re-grow. It is not known what the long-term consequences of repeated waxing have on hairs’ growths but there might be repeated damage to the hair follicle that might result in permanent reduction of unwanted hairs.

Precautions and benefits of waxing

It is quite essential not to have the waxing too hot since it can hurt or burn the skin. Side effects from waxing are pains, folliculitis, scars, hyper-pigmentations and ingrown hairs. On the other hand, out of the plenty of other methods available, waxing hair removal is though popular among all the people, especially the women all across the world. There are three main reasons why waxing is so popular mentioned below –

Waxing is inexpensive

Waxing is convenient (the procedure can also be at home with minimum ingredients and things required)

Waxing hair removal would last for some weeks in most of the cases

Waxing works mechanically. A combination of wax is spread as thin film over the skin. A cloth strip is then pressed onto the top and then taken off with a rapid movement that removes the wax along with the hairs and dead skin cells offering the skin smooth finally.

Types of waxes – cold and hot

There are two major types of waxes. A typical hot wax melts just above body temperature so they are easily spread as thin film over the skin. As they get hardened they trap the hairs in the wax in order that they are removed with their hair-roots when the wax is ripped off.

Cold wax is available in pre-coated strip that can be pressed directly onto the skin. The hairs stick to the waxes and are then removed with the quick pulling back action. A cold wax is also called as Persian waxing.

As dead skin cells are removed in overall waxing process, the skin can become very smooth as a result. The hair waxing action may cause the skins to sting and thus, many people find soothing skin healing creams to be helpful as after procedure application. Some people find that the skins react with redness and bumps those disappear after.

General information on waxing hair removal

It is always advisable to test waxing onto a small area first before practicing it on larger area. However, waxing can be used on any parts of the body but exceptions include like the male genital area, nipple, inside the ear and nose and eyelashes.

The hairs those are removed through waxing generally come back between 3 and 8 weeks. During waxing, a simple way to greatly belittle the discomforts is to press hard on the skins right after the waxing strips are taken off. To underline again, do this soon after the strips are pulled off. Press down hard with the cushions of the finger or the palms of the hands on larger sites of the body. In addition to that, rubbing icepacks over the areas can do much for reducing the risks of swelling and skin irritations.

All in all, d epending on the level of skin sensitivities or pain tolerating capacity, texture of hairs and rate of hair growing, waxing hair removals might be a viable option for anyone.
