Hair plays a significant role in defining the overall personality of any normal person in this world. Hair is a threadlike outgrowing form of proteins, present only on the bodies of mammals. Hairs are exceptionally tough materials but, over the times, abuse can wreak mayhem with their natural properties.
Hair is compiled of mainly of proteins (about 88 per cent). These proteins are that of some hard fibrous kinds called as keratin. There are many different types of hair like you may find them as the curly ones and direct-falling ones. Some hair types are more susceptible to the assemblage of sebum (a medical terminology used to describe the natural oils, which a skin secretes in order to provide lubrication) than others, while some kinds of hair are just naturally dry.
The combination hair
Combination hair can be defined as a greasy at the roots but drier and sometimes separate at the ends. Reasons of combination hair because of over-exposure to sunrays, overusing of heat-styling equipments etc. and such repeated abuses often stimulate reactions in sebum secretions at the roots and some partial alterations in the scales that can no longer fulfill their protective roles.
The hair ends would then become dry and it is generally fairly long and the hairs nearest the head are greasy for a while at the ends are dry. If the hair is of combination type, one should not use the intense, most severe shampoos possible. Wiping away all the sebum and drying off the scalp means only temporary solution to the scalp.
Causes for combination hair
- Undergoing any chemical treatments
- Using any detergent based shampoo very frequently
- Overexposing to sunrays
- Overusing of heat-styling equipments
As said before, such repeated abuses often provoke a reaction in sebum secretions at the roots and a partial change in the scales that can no longer nourish or play their protective function. The hair ends then start becoming drier.
Some tips for combination haircare
One should not use too much shampoos washing the combination type of hair. Using the shampoos directly onto the scalp and just let the froth flow to the edges of the hairs. Another thing to be remembered is one should not apply the shampoo straight into the tips as the shampoos would rinse off the oils that the tips of hair require so much. Gently using the fingers or a pick to unknot any knots while the hair is drying is good and safe idea.
Coloring the combination type of hair is another good remedy or choice. One should avoid seeking in hair accessories such as barrette, scrunch, head band, etc. Never over clean the hairs’ tips and be cautious in handling them. Washing the shampoos off carefully and totally until they are not slippery anymore is also important tip for combination hair care.
