There are many myths regarding Diaper rash in babies. Baby’s skin is very sensitive and hence it is very normal for them to have rashes, no matter how careful you are. Diaper rash is not abnormal, is not a sign of any food allergy and it does not mean that baby had diarrhea or yeast infection. It is just normal for any baby to have it and there are many ways that you can limit it. But, you cannot absolutely avoid it.

Baby’s skin is very sensitive. The chemicals and moisture of urine and stools irritate the skin and they get the rash. As this is all inside the diaper, it all keeps moving back and forth. This makes the situation worse. If not taken care of on time, bacteria and yeast can make the infection worse. There are many things you can avoid so that baby does not get Diaper rash.

Most important is to change the diaper more frequently. It must be changed every two hours or earlier if soiled. Infants have more frequent stools, so you have to be extra careful with them. It is also possible that some brand of diaper might not be suitable for your baby’s skin. If your baby gets Diaper rash quite often, it is a good idea to just try another brand of diapers.

If you use the cloth diapers, wash them thoroughly and rinse with the vinegar. This removes any alkaline irritants present on the cloth that might cause the Diaper rash. After the stool, make sure that the area is cleaned well. It is best to just wash it with the running water at the room temperature. You can also use the wipes but make sure they are of good quality and preferably unscented.

Each baby’s skin is different. It is a good idea to apply the diaper rash cream every time you change the diaper. You can either use the petroleum ointment or white zinc oxide.
