Bottlefeeding slightly differs from the breastfeeding because of which the kids show reluctance towards bottlefeeding in the initial days. Mothers will have to take extra pains to teach their kids to bottle feed. Working mothers mostly prefer bottles as they can’t be available during the working hours. It is suggested that mothers should not get back to the work unless that kid gets used to the bottle completely.

Mothers who are keen to bottle feed their kids can follow the tips given below:

Mothers are not the right persons to bottle feed their kids for the first time. Kids can sense the presence of their mothers and will fight for the breast milk instead of the bottle milk. Most of the kids resist bottles when given by their mothers. To prevent all these either the partner or the nanny should bottle feed the kid.

Most of the people make a mistake of bottle feeding the kid for the first time when he is extremely hungry. Because of the hunger the kid will not show any interest in the new mode of feeding and gets frustrated.

To communicate better with the child an eye to eye contact must be made while bottle feeding.

There is no rule that bottle feeding must be done in a nursing position. Any comfortable position can be adopted while bottle feeding the baby.

Mothers should not stop breastfeeding during the nights even after the baby gets used to the bottle. Most of the babies do not feed properly on the bottle milk and need breast milk for the complete nourishment. Breastfeeding during the nights will also help in better bonding with the child as the mothers won’t be available during the day time.

A simple tip of smearing the breast milk on the bottle’s nipple can attract the kid if he is too reluctant to take the bottle.
