Chakras -
The word chakra literally means circle or wheel.
Mooladhara Chakra –
Mooladhara means upon the root or base. This is located in between anus and the scrotum. It is connected with the testes and is imp for carrying impulses through nervous system. But in female this is situated in the cervix.
The symbol –
Four crimson lotus petals and a triangle facing downwards. The yellow square graphic shape shows the element earth or solid state. The vibration with which this chakra rotates and creates sound is known as Bija Mantra.
Meditation on it –
While meditating on it, person experience a tremendous amount of sexual pleasure as this is the nearest to genital organs of the human body.
Swadhisthana Chakra –
This is also connected to the awakening of the kundalini. In sanskrit it does mean one’s own abode. The kundalini located in the mooladhara chakra, in a sleep state, its real residence is in the swadhisthana chakra. The location of this chakra is at the base of the spinal column at the level of sacrum and coccyx. This is very close to mooladhara.
The symbol –
A six petalled lotus which is orange red or vermilion in color and its shape is of a half moon. The element is water and color is bluish. So its official shape is semi circular.
Medication on it –
It is believed, that who does this would get liberated from all the fantasies, depression, lethary anxiety and so on. This awakes the intuitive knowledge.
Manipura Chakra - the solar plexus
This means the city of jewels. This is the center of qualities like achievement, self-esteem, will power and kindness. This is located on the inner wall of the spinal column, just behind the navel. This regulates heat in the body as it is related to the solar plexus.
Meditation on it –
The aspirant would get power for creation and destruction, he wont be fear of fire, he could see hidden treasures and from diseases, total freedom.
The symbol –
Triangle pointing upward. Its element is fire and so color is red. This works as cleaning center for whole the body. It also regulates the sense of sight.
Anahata chakra – the heart wheel
As named, this is related with the heart which is constant vibrating and moving material. Anahata literally means unbeaten. The ocation is inner wall of the spinal column, just behind the center of the thorax-chest.
The symbol –
It has twelve shining crimson colored petals. It is symbolized by two intersecting triangles, each pointing in opposite directions. Its color is smoky. This governs sense of touch and its element is an air. The graphic shape is circle and its force is motion. This keeps heart beating in heatlhy way.
Meditation on it –
This brings constant feeling of optimism and also a sense of possessions. The person becomes very sensitive to the feelings of the people around him. This also develops strong sense of touch. This also brings heart in proper functioning.
Vishuddhi chakra - the throat chakra
Vishuddhi means purification. This is situated behind the pit of throat and is in the cervical plexus. This chakra is responsible for receiving thought vibration from other people.
The symbol –
This is a circle and sixteen purple lotus petals. The element of this is space, its color is blue and it governs the sense of hearing. Its force is pervasion and it is also controling center for youth and rejuvenation.
The meditation on it –
This helps person to develop a keen sense of hearing that is through mind and not just only by physiological organ by means of ears. He can have all the sounds heard which are normally very low in pitch.
Ajna chakra - the inner eye
The word ajna means command. As the name suggests this links up between guru (preceptor) and his shishya (disciples). This is located directly behind the eyebrow center in the brain.
The symbol –
It is two petalled otus and has an intangible color. Its element is the mind.
Meditation on it –
This brings the person to get rid off the fickle mind decisions. This gives person stablitiy of the brain and decision making capability. This gives skill knowledge for any subject tought to the person.
Bindu Visarga Chakra –
This is the source of all creation. There is very limited material available on this. The world bindu means a drop. It is located at the back of the head at the shikha or choti (the upper portion or the top portion of the head)
The symbol –
It is symbolized by crescent moon and a white drop at the top indicating the flow of nectar down to the chakra and spreading all the body.
Meditation on it –
It brings the source of creation. It also brings conventional experience.
Sahasrara chakra - the Crown
This means a thousand. The power of all chakra doesn’t lie in them but resides in the sahasrara chakra. This is where the prana and supreme consciousness meet. Shiva and shakti are the two supreme forces take place and gives the new experiences to the person.
The symbol –
It is symbolized by a thousand petalled lotus.
Meditation on it –
This gives the supreme power to the person. This being the head of all the chakra…controls everything on the body including all the systems.
