Nowadays things are getting so fast that we face a lot of difficulty in coping with them. It is a harsh fact that we have to sacrifice our convenience and body to really manage the workload we are facing.

Stress can be defined as any factor that causes discomfort to our mind and body. This can work both ways. It can benefit us as well as it can disturb our life completely. The situations that initiate stress are known as stressors.

How is stress caused?

We all know that hormones are responsible for each and every emotion we face and so are responsible for causing stress. The hypothalamus situated in our head stimulates the adrenal glands located above the kidneys. Adrenal glands secrete the hormones adrenalin and cortisones that then get released into the blood stream. These hormones produce the effect of fight and flight. These includes increasing the rhythm of the heart, pumps up the respiratory rate, increases the blood flow in the blood vessels, thereby increasing the blood pressure and also hastens the metabolism. Our pupil dilates for better vision and also our body temperature rises. We certainly do not need these kinds of disturbances in the body, but they can occur due to stress. Eventually a person gets prepared to face the change that might happen or he/she becomes apprehensive about it. As mentioned earlier, stress is helpful to our body as it improves the performance of a person in a given situation. But it becomes a travesty when it is prolonged.

What are the causes that lead to stress prolongation?

It is a famous saying that excess of anything is bad. It is also applicable to stress. Stress is helpful in making us to fight in adverse conditions and also helps us to face the adverse condition that prevails. But when this stress gets prolonged, it causes great danger to our body as well as our mind. Mostly young people gets involved in such traps and lose there normal mental make up. Moreover this kind of stress is also seen in older people when they are unable to get all the attention they desire. It has been seen that sometimes reason for the stress is not that significant, but the exaggerated emotions come into play in these situations. People think a lot on certain relationships they are in and when that relationship somehow gets disrupted, it leads to an emotional breakdown.

  • Professional stress is the most common of all the factors that contribute towards the causing of stress in the mind.
