Using Apple Cider Vinegar for Skin Ailments

Apple cider vinegar can be used externally as well as internally for strengthening the immune system and doing away with inflammations and bacterial infections. For internal ailments, two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar can be consumed every day with honey or diluted with water. It is essential to use it diluted as apple cider vinegar is very strong and can cause burns in the oesophagus and throat and damage other organs.

External application of apple cider vinegar can remove many skin infections, inflammations and allergies.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Acne Treatment

Acne is cause by bacterial action on skin. The anti bacterial and astringent qualities of apple cider vinegar can be put to test here. After cleaning your skin with water, dilute one part of apple cider vinegar with 3 parts of pure water.  Using a clean cloth or a cotton ball, the solution can be dabbed on the affected area. Leave it on for 10 minutes before washing off. The process can be repeated four times a day until the acne gets cleared. Apple cider vinegar kills the bacterial action on the acne and regains the Ph balance of the skin. Along with this, your skin will also be toned as apple cider vinegar is a natural toner.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Treatment of Warts

For treating warts, dip a cotton ball with apple cider and apply on the affected area. You can use a duct tape for taping the cotton ball on to the wart.  It must be changed once a day. The affected area could sting due to the action and it could even turn itchy or painful. There is no cause for alarm here as it is the effective action of the apple cider vinegar that causes these reactions. Within days you will find the wart turning black which is an indication that it is healing. Finally it will clear off from your skin. The application of apple cider vinegar must be continued for a week after the healing, to prevent recurrence.

Apple cider vinegar has been known to help many psoriatic wounds. But individual reactions may vary. It is good to prevent the unbearable itching caused by psoriasis. In some cases complete cure too can be achieved. Apple cider vinegar turns the Ph levels in the body into alkaline which greatly benefits individuals with psoriasis. Psoriasis is related to Ph imbalances of the digestive tract and body.

Apple cider vinegar can be diluted (one part apple cider vinegar with five to six parts of water) and applied on the affected areas of psoriasis using a cotton ball. Immediate relief from itching follows.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Sun Burn

Sun burnt skin is a common problem faced by all of us. Sometimes it could be that a sun tanning session has gone completely wrong. Apple cider vinegar can revive sun burnt skin and relieve the discomfort and pain associated with it.

For this, mix equal quantities of apple cider vinegar and water and using a clean towel or a gauze strip, soak the solution and wrap it around the area of the body which is sunburnt. After a few minutes remove the cloth and allow the area to dry. You can use a herbal or aloe vera moisturiser to combat the drying properties of vinegar on the skin. Alternately, it can be sprayed on to your skin by filling the apple cider vinegar into a spray bottle.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Itchy Skin

Apple cider vinegar can be used to subside all sorts of itchy skin conditions. The anti bacterial properties of apple cider vinegar help in killing the bacteria and removing the itch.  You can add red clover tops or calendula along with this solution for greater results. Calendula is known to cure many skin ailments and itchy skin.

Apple cider vinegar can also be used in the water while you take bath. Fill your tub with cool water and mix apple cider vinegar to it. You can soak in this vinegar bath for as long as you like to prevent all sorts of skin ailments. You can add other herbs too for greater benefits. For tired looking skin, adding a few drops of lavender oil or rosemary can help. To maintain skin elasticity, apple cider vinegar can be combined with geranium and also lemon grass which results in beautifully toned skin, free of all blemishes.

Homemade apple cider vinegar is much better than the products available in the grocery shops. They may not have the ‘mother’ necessary for healing as they could be filtered and refined. For the abundant nutritional potency of apple cider vinegar, make sure they are homemade or bought from a reliable source.
